Los Angeles Dodgers Secure World Series Spot with Game 6 Victory Over New York Mets

The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 2020 after defeating the New York Mets 10-5 in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series. Their offense, dominant throughout the series, once again took center stage on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. Tommy Edman, with four RBIs, spearheaded the Dodgers’ charge, leading them to their fourth win in six games against the Mets.

The game started with both teams eager to get on the scoreboard. Dodgers relief pitcher Michael Kopech struggled early, allowing a run in the first inning after Mets slugger Pete Alonso reached on an infield single. A throwing error by second baseman Chris Taylor enabled Francisco Lindor to cross home plate, giving the Mets an early lead.

However, the Dodgers wasted no time in responding. Shohei Ohtani sparked the Los Angeles offense with a leadoff single against Mets starter Sean Manaea. Teoscar Hernandez followed by reaching base, and Edman continued his postseason dominance with a two-run double, putting the Dodgers ahead 2-1.

In the third inning, with the Mets threatening, Dodgers reliever Anthony Banda shut them down, striking out Jeff McNeil to preserve the lead. The Dodgers then extended their advantage as Edman launched a two-run home run off Manaea, igniting the crowd at Dodger Stadium. Shortly after, Will Smith hit a second two-run homer, pushing the score to 6-1.

Although Mark Vientos tried to rally the Mets with a two-run home run, trimming the lead to 6-3, their opportunities with runners in scoring position repeatedly fell short. The Mets loaded the bases twice but failed to capitalize, allowing the Dodgers to maintain control.

Los Angeles extended their lead when Ohtani delivered an RBI single, further dimming the Mets’ hopes. Both teams added late runs, but the outcome was never in doubt, as the Dodgers closed out the game and clinched the series, booking their place in the Fall Classic.

Tommy Edman earned NLCS MVP honors after driving in 11 runs, tying a franchise record for most RBIs in a single postseason series, a feat last achieved by Corey Seager in 2020. Reflecting on his journey to Los Angeles after being traded midseason from the St. Louis Cardinals, Edman called it “crazy” but expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from his new team. “This is an amazing group,” Edman told Fox Sports 1 after the game. “I can’t wait to keep this going.”

The Dodgers now prepare to face the New York Yankees in the World Series, with Game 1 set for Friday in Los Angeles. For Edman, this moment is a dream realized. “This is what I always dreamed about,” he said, thanking the passionate Dodgers fans for their support. “Can’t wait to see more of you out there.”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, now a four-time NL pennant winner, praised his team’s resilience. “We’ve faced a lot of challenges this year,” Roberts said. “But this team never stopped fighting, and in the postseason, it’s all about fight—and we’ve got plenty of talent too. This is the World Series everyone wanted.”

With their last World Series win in 2020 and seven championships under their belt, the Dodgers are once again poised for a title run.
