Jennifer Lawrence Expecting Second Child with Husband Cooke Maroney
Jennifer Lawrence is preparing to welcome her second child with husband Cooke Maroney. The 34-year-old Oscar-winning actress, known for her role in *The Hunger Games*, is expecting again, as confirmed by her representative in a statement to *Vogue*. This exciting news follows the couple’s first child, a son named Cy, born in 2022.
Married to Maroney, an art dealer, since 2019, Lawrence has maintained a relatively private family life. In a 2022 interview on *The Ellen DeGeneres Show*, Lawrence shared her joy about motherhood, with DeGeneres noting the adorable moments of Lawrence speaking to her son, as she lived next door. “By the way, I do hear you sometimes talking to him, and it’s really cute,” DeGeneres had remarked.
Lawrence has been candid about her desire to protect her children’s privacy. In a 2021 interview with *Vanity Fair*, she expressed her determination to shield them from public scrutiny.
“If I was at a dinner party, and somebody was like, ‘Oh, my God, you’re expecting a baby,’ I wouldn’t be like, ‘God, I can’t talk about that. Get away from me, you psycho!’ But every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives as much as I can.”
Reflecting on motherhood, Lawrence described the profound transformation she felt after the birth of her son. “The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over. I just stared at him. I was so in love,” she told *Vogue*. The experience, she said, made her fall in love with babies everywhere.
In balancing her career with motherhood, Lawrence has spoken about how the arrival of her son has influenced her decision-making when it comes to film roles. In a conversation with Cameron Diaz for *Interview Magazine*, she shared that before taking on a new project, she now asks herself, “Is this worth being away from my child for half the day?” She added, “Fortunately, my husband is the greatest father in the world, so when I’m working, I don’t have any more guilt than the usual everyday, all-day parent guilt.”
This sense of parental guilt, common among many, was something Lawrence expanded on in a conversation with Viola Davis for *Variety* in 2022. “Every day of being a mom, I feel awful,” she confessed. “I’m playing with him and thinking, ‘Is this what he wants to be doing? Should we be outside? We’re outside—what if he’s cold? What if he’s going to get sick? Should we be inside?’”
Lawrence’s most recent work includes her role in the comedy *No Hard Feelings*, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Film. As she looks ahead to welcoming her second child, fans will no doubt watch with interest how the actress continues to balance her thriving career with her growing family.
